Voyage To The Prehistoric Planet – short review

Voyage To The Prehistoric Planet: A US edit of a Russian original (Planet Of Storms – you know I’m sure I’ve got that somewhere?) with extra US scenes filmed (with Basil Rathbone) and added in to the mix. Special effects are average for 1965 but the Russian scenes are definitely superior to the US filmed inserts. I particularly like the full-size ‘flying’ car. Quite well done.
It’s got space ships, dinosaurs, sudden violent rainstorms, volcanic eruptions, lizard men… what more do you want from a movie? Thoroughly enjoyable – although less said about the US actress playing Marsha the better (I could blame the terrible lines she’s given to say, but I’m sure a better actress could have made them sound reasonable).
